P&O WELCOMES PSM ABOARD

Level sensors and monitoring for new ferry

PSM’s level sensors and monitoring system have been used in P&O ‘s new luxury ferry the mv European Causeway that just recently finished sea trials.

The 20,800 tonne luxury ferry uses series 260 Tankstar type approved sensors, Series 2200 monitors and two indicator panels that provide digital indication within the Ballast control room and analogue indication at the port and starboard fuel stations. PSM Series 600 Tankwatch self powered gauges are also fitted as a secondary display, meeting regulations for passenger vessels and providing a lower cost alternative to expensive sight glasses.

The vessel was built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries at its Shimonoeki shipyard, Japan, and PSM also provided commissioning and supervisory services. The Ferry’s usual route will be between Larne and Cairnryan and she can carry 410 passengers and 375 cars.
